Here is a video preview of the Firmware 2.0 coming in October. Major noticeable change is kinetic scrolling and more widgets. On home screen you can see vlingo widget. Where is skype?

After reading this tweet from @clintonjeff, I checked my SW update and I do see this same “Install Before Phone Software 0.1″. I installed it OTA but I did not see any changes. Based on the description below, I wonder if this is preparing the N97 for a major update soon to come. Check your SW update and see if you have this update as well. Let me know if you know what this is for?

Not a surprise why Nokia called this phone a Mini version of the N97. It has all the same/similar functions and features as the N97 except that’s it is smaller. But really not that small either. I think I would still prefer the bigger N97, it looks much better and it fits perfectly in my hard. Although I do like the keyboard layout of the mini more since I never really use the D-pad and I like my function key to be on the left. Thanks Nokia now my phone is going to be out dated. lol.

If you already have a Google Voice account and you would like to use it as your primary voicemail instead of the one provided by your carrier, here is quick and easy way to forward all your calls to Google Voice.

Instruction for AT&T and T-Mobile USA:

1. Dial *004*1[GVnumber]*11# (Replace “GVnumber” with your Google Voice number, example: *004*14087771234*11#)
2. Press “Send” or green button
3. Your N97 should display “Requesting” then “Forwarding Activated” (see pictures below)
4. You’re done.

All calls will now be forwarded to your GV number. To verify simply call your own number from a different phone or you can go to Menu>Settings>Calling>Call forwarding>Voice calls. Press “If busy”>options>Check status>Number. “To number” should be your GV number. This should also be the same for “If not answered” and “If out of reach”.

To change back to your carrier voicemail press: ##004# and send.

(This instruction should apply to most if not all S60 devices.)
