Go to Settings > Application Manager > Installed Applications > Select Gmail > Options > Suite Settings > change “onscreen keyboard” to OFF. That’s all your Gmail should be full screen now.
If you already have a Google Voice account and you would like to use it as your primary voicemail instead of the one provided by your carrier, here is quick and easy way to forward all your calls to Google Voice. Read more…
This is not really related to N97 at this time since the Gizmo5 mobile app is not S60V5 compatible. However, I just wanted to share quickly how you can make outgoing phone calls using Gizmo5 as a Google Voice dialer. If you already have Google Voice set up follow these instructions below. If not, sign up here for an invite. It takes about 3 weeks.
Add your Google Voice account to Gizmo5 on the web. Make sure Google Voice calling is ON after you hit SAVE. (see Picture 1)
Find your SIP number on the “My” page, should be 1-747-XXX-XXXX.
Start Gizmo5 application that you’ve installed and login using your SIP number. Set up speaker and microphone.
Go to Google Voice and add the SIP number to your account under settings >phones. Select Gizmo as Phone Type. (see Picture 2)
Verify SIP number by accepting call on Gizmo5 app and input the 2 digit pin from Google.
After everything is setup, make sure you login on Gizmo5 desktop application using you SIP 1747XXXXXXX instead of the username. This allows you to make calls through Google Voice.
Now when you dial from Gizmo5 your callers will see your GV number and you can also receive calls via Gizmo5 app.
The Gizmo5 mobile version wasn’t working properly on the N97. I couldn’t login using the SIP number. So far no luck calling out from the N97. Maybe this will work on the N95 or any other S60V3. Let me know if it does.
I’ve seen many pictures where the lens glass has been scratched due to tiny particles trapped underneath the cover. My lens also has been scratched but only on the side of the lens. Nothing in the middle that would cause the quality of the picture to degrade. My pictures are still clear with flash on.
There are 2 ways that you can store your contacts online, one is using ovi and the other is Google Sync. I have my contacts stored at both locations but I still prefer to use Google Sync because I use Gmail and now Google Voice.
To set up Google Sync with your N97, you need to download Mail for Exchange. I’ve read that it’s available on Ovi Store but I couldn’t find it. However, on the N97 NAM MfE is already pre-installed on the device. All you have to do is open your N97 browser and type in “c:\installation\MailForExchange_S60_5_0.sisx” and hit “go to”. The application will start installing.
After installation, go to applications and open the MfE folder. Launch the application Mail for Exchange. Now continue with Google Sync : Setup Instructions and start synchronizing your contacts.
Remember to back up your contacts first before you sync with google. A couple on my contacts got replaced/deleted.
I’ve been getting a lot of low phone memory warning on my N97 due to very limited space on the C: drive. This forces me to delete Nokia Messaging as it will always run out of memory from downloading new emails; not only that, I can’t send out emails with attachments. Also you can’t install NM on the mass memory. Read more…
I’ve been using the Nokia N97 for over a week now and I found a couple useful small features or functions that I thought was worth mentioning. This quick video will probably benefit new S60 users the most, but old S60 users might gain something as well. If you know any cool features or any tips & tricks worth sharing please leave your comment.
