Just wanted to share a cool promo video for the Nokia N900.

I thought I post two of my current backgrounds if anyone wants to use them. I’ll add more later on. They are sized for the N97 screen.

I’ve seen many pictures where the lens glass has been scratched due to tiny particles trapped underneath the cover. My lens also has been scratched but only on the side of the lens. Nothing in the middle that would cause the quality of the picture to degrade. My pictures are still clear with flash on.

To protect the lens from more scratches, I cut a small piece film from a screen protector that I had left for my camera. I made sure that it was long enough to slide right under the cover (see picture) and that it was thin enough for the cover to slide over. This kept the cover from getting stuck.

This is only a temporary fix. I do hope Nokia can do something about this. For a $700 flagship phone I do expect more. At least for now I feel more comfortable sliding the cover open.

ZAGG the maker of the famous invisible SHIELD is now selling the screen protector for the N97. You can purchase either the full body coverage (2 pieces front and back) or just for the screen. I have used their screen protectors on capacitive touch screen phones before which is great, but I don’t know how well they will work on resistive screens. You might be able to find them at your local mall to see how it looks and feels and have them install for you since the installation process requires you to spray on a solution.

Amazon.com is selling the N97 for $599.00 + free shipping. So if you’ve been holding off this is a good time to buy since the new firmware V11 was released today that fixed many bugs users have been complaining. This firmware should have been released from the beginning. If you have Amazon prime get this phone in 2 days.

The N97 has been released for about a week now with tons of good reviews available. This phone is packed with many great features such as a full QWERTY keyboard, 32GB, microSD, touch screen, large battery, handwriting recognition. You name it, the N97 probably has it. But one of the most important feature is also the 5 Megapixel camera with auto exposure, auto focus, exposure compensation, flash, full screen viewfinder, self timer, and sequence mode. It also has a Carl Zeiss lens. It is a very good lens. Carl Zeiss AG has been making expensive and high-quality optical lenses for over 100 years.

There are 8+ Megapixel camera phone available but resolution has little to do with sharpness, and sharpness has very little to do with image quality. Resolution (pixel count) has nothing to do with picture quality. Color and tone are far more important.

Nokia has made it very easy for us to take excellent pictures or videos and upload them directly to Ovi Share or Facebook to share with your friends and family. This is why the N97 is perfect for everyday use.

Getting ready to buy your N97?  As it turns out there are some screen protectors available to buy online but they are not the brands that I would recommend. I would prefer Invisible SHIELD or BestSkinEver but they are not available at this time. Some alternative are:
